Saturday Change of Plan

My alarm blared at 6am this morning. Ignored it. It rang out again at 6:30. Then 7am. My mind said one thing: ‘Screw that’.

Saturdays, I usually rise at 7:30. But I wanted to beat the heat. If I’m running for at least 2 hours and it’s uncomfortable by 10/10:30, I really needed to be out the door by 6:30. That didn’t happen. But it’s more than not being bothered.

Very, very rarely, I’d completed a longer run on a Sunday morning rather than a Saturday. This complete restructuring of the weekend had worked excellently. I completed all deep-focus tasks Saturday, went out Saturday night, and then chores/adminstrative tasks Sunday.

The only reason I’ve never stuck to it is that it was the park run that used to get me out for my long runs, and that’s held on a Saturday. I consider park run as one of the main reasons I was able to establish such a strong training routine last time.

Anyways, to change things up, I’m going to try the long run on Sunday and may establish my park run as a 5k only on Saturday.
